20 Bible Verses for Dog Lovers to Pray Over Your Pet

Scripture doesn't mention dogs often by name, but its themes of loyalty, comfort, companionship, and care map directly onto the bond between a dog owner and their pet. Below are 20 verses dog lovers can turn to — for gratitude, for comfort during a hard season, or simply as a daily reminder of faithfulness.

On loyalty and companionship: Proverbs 17:17, Ecclesiastes 4:9-10, Ruth 1:16

On comfort during illness or loss: Psalm 34:18, Revelation 21:4, Matthew 11:28

On God's care for all creation: Matthew 6:26, Psalm 145:9, Proverbs 12:10

On gratitude for daily companionship: Psalm 118:24, 1 Thessalonians 5:18

On steadfast love (a theme that shows up constantly in dog ownership): Lamentations 3:22-23, Psalm 136:1, Psalm 100:5
